Born in Lewiston on September 4th, 1937, he was the son of Nazaire and Beatrice Drapeau. He grew up in Lewiston and was a graduate of Lewiston High School, class of 1957.
Roger proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves from 1958-1964.
One of his first jobs was at the Lewiston Fire Department. While there, he met his future wife, Doris Landry. They married in 1963 and went on to have 4 children: Timothy, Michael, Angela & Kevin.
Roger spent many years working for the Citgo service station on the Maine turnpike, eventually becoming owner and manager. He also worked for several years at Tambrands and upon retirement operated his own lawn and snow business until he was 80. He especially loved mowing since he was able to be outdoors and could socialize with his neighbors.
Over the years, Roger greatly enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren on the beach at Pine Point body-surfing the waves, riding bikes, playing tennis, and going snow sliding. Even in his final days, he maintained his quick wit and continued to share his quips and jokes with those around him.
Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Roger knew he was very proud of all his children, and always wanted the best for his family.
Roger was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Lucille Biehle and Priscilla Gagne.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Doris Drapeau, his son and daughter in-law Tim & Liz Drapeau of San Diego, California, his son and daughter in-law Mike & Julie Drapeau of Panama City Beach, Florida, his daughter & son in-law Angela & Bill McKeen of Lewiston, Maine, and his son and daughter in-law Kevin & Cindi Drapeau of Arlington, Texas.
He also leaves behind eleven grandchildren: Arielle, Mikayla, Skylar, and Kendall Drapeau, Kiersten Brigham and her husband Wyatt, Madison Drapeau, Chase & Sean McKeen, Tia St. Pierre & husband Spencer, Nik & Jed Drapeau, as well as one great-grandchild, Hadley Mae St. Pierre.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that those who are able instead donate to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 24th, 2023, at 11am at St. Peter’s Cemetery Mausoleum in Lewiston.
