He was born November 19, 1955 in Lewiston the son of Norma Jean Cox of Auburn, Maine and William Florian Schrider of Chicago, Illinois.
He was a veteran of U.S Navy. After leaving the service, Mickey worked as a lobsterman but later he owned and operated his own carpentry business. Whenever he could you would find him pursuing his true passion, fly fishing. His favorite places to fish were in Northern Maine and he spent every fall chasing brook trout in some of Maine’s most fabled river. Mickey also enjoyed the company of his two Yorkshire Terriers Sophie & Hannah.
He is predeceased by both his parents, Norma and William, his stepfather Peter J. Fides and his beloved uncle, Richard “Dicky” Cox. He is survived by five children Steven Redmond, Benjamin Redmond, Rachel Batchelder, Jason Batchelder, and Mya Caron; grandchildren Stephanie, Fletcher, Parker, Bella and Cecilia, a great grandson Thatcher and another great grandson that is on the way; two siblings Philip Batchelder and Suzanne Joncas. In addition to his family he will be sadly missed by his circle of friends with whom he shared fishing trips, tales and laughter.
The family will host a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date when the weather warms up.
