Born October 7, 1926 in Lewiston the son of the late Arthur E. and Elna B. (Paradis) Lacasse. Maurice was educated in Lewiston schools. He joined the U.S. Navy in July 1944. During his two years service in the Navy, he served in the Navy Seabees as a motor machinist in the Philippine Islands, China, Saipan and New Guinea. During this period, he received the Philippine Liberation medal, American Theatre medal, Asiatic Pacific Theatre medal and the World War II Victory medal. After his discharge in 1946, he married his sweetheart, Lorraine R. Landry. He worked for National Candy in his early working years and then went on to work for Federal Distributors for nearly 20 years. On many occasions, he was recognized for his excellent skills as a salesman. He retired after a period of employment at the Lewiston School Department.
He was a member of Holy Cross Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was recognized by the Tri-County Chapter of the American Red Cross as a 5 gallon blood donor. He was a self-taught woodworker and carpenter and enjoyed making furniture and craft items for his family. He loved Christmas and worked all year on wood crafted items to be given to his daughters at Christmas. He was also an avid Boston Bruins fan and looked forward to the hockey season each year. He loved gardening and taking trips to visit his daughters and their families. Maurice was a generous man and loved life. He always used humor to engage people - whether they were acquaintances or strangers. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by Lorraine R. (Landry) Lacasse, his devoted wife of 63 years and four daughters; Pauline Patterson and her husband James of Camden, Patricia Lacasse of Lewiston, Joanne Fortin and her husband Richard of Fort Kent and Claire Murray and her husband James of Millbury, MA. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Bill Patterson and his wife Michelle of NYC, Thomas, Zachary and Peter Murray of Millbury, MA., Sean Galipeau-Eldridge and his wife Leah of Otisfield and Scott Galipeau and his wife Christa of Presque Isle. Also 5 great-grandchildren, Emma, Willa and Brenna Galipeau-Eldridge and Piper and Sierra Galipeau; 3 brothers, Paul, Rev. Robert Lacasse, O.M.I. and Roland; 2 sisters, Rita Morency and her husband Lionel and Lorraine; sisters-in-law, Marguerite (Lacasse) Morin and her husband Marcel, Terry Lacasse, Aurora Lacasse, Blanche Landry, Cecile Ward, Celine McKeone and her husband Robert, Madeleine Landry and a large number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Susan; brothers, Fernand, Romeo, Emile, Normand and Leo and a sister, Juliette.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 11 AM at Holy Cross Church. Burial will take place at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
