Jacqueline “Jackie” King, a dedicated, hardworking, spiritual woman passed away on November 12th, 2024. Born on February 1st, 1952, Jackie was known for her kind smile, caring personality and a bit of stubborn defiance to the very end.
Jackie will be lovingly remembered by her children, Michael King and Lisa Hepler and her grandchildren, Megan and Dawson King, Jeremy Hepler, her Brother Dan Gosselin and his wife Anita Gosselin, her brother Jean Gosselin and many nieces and nephews. She is joined in rest by her mother Rosa, her father, Dewey and her brothers Fern, Ralph and Henry.
Among Jackie’s most significant accomplishments was raising her children, as a single parent, whom she revered and cherished. She worked for General Electric for approximately 20 years, held countless part-time jobs to provide for her children, she was a devoted care giver to her mother during her battle with cancer and went on to care for many others who were sick and nearing end of life. Later in life, she became an integral part of her son Michael’s family to care for and support her grandchildren while he served his country.
Jackie’s joys were many. Jackie was an animal lover who raised several Siamese cats, the last being Cuddles who lived an amazing 22 years, enjoyed the songs of her parakeets, the endless games of fetch and sneaking treats to Luna and Roo, playing with Harley and snuggling with Binx until the very end. Jackie had a love of plants and flowers that seemed to grow and grow and grow, enjoyed taking her kids to the beach in their youth and planned countless road trips to see friends and family. She also had a love for cooking and baking her kids and grandkids favorite dishes. Towards the end of her life, she had a desire to return to Maine as it was where her life had begun. Her daughter, Lisa, opened the doors and in doing so, allowed Jackie to reconnect and enjoy her remaining days in Lewiston Maine.
Amidst the challenges life brought her way, Jackie never wavered in her compassion for others. She continued to support her family and extend a helping hand to anyone in need. In fact, Jackie had a certain way of doing helpful things, her way, and if you got in the way, she would let you know.
Her legacy is one of unyielding kindness, love and generosity. Even with little to spare, Jackie found a way to make life easier for those around her.
A Celebration of Life, with Jackie in attendance, occurred earlier in February when her health quickly deteriorated, and the prognosis seemed bleak. True to her character, Jackie decided that she was not ready to move along just yet as she was enjoying reconnecting with her roots in Maine. In Jackie’s final defiance of snubbing her illness and choosing to depart on her terms many months later, a follow-up Celebration of Life will occur in the near future coinciding with Jackie being laid to rest with her departed parents and brothers.
Those wishing to pay their respects and celebrate her life are welcomed to remember Jackie as she was to them – she asked for little in life and wished for a quiet departure. In lieu of flowers, kindly ask that you donate to a cancer research foundation or a charity of your choosing.
Jackie’s loss is deeply felt by her family and all those who knew and loved her. Her memory will continue to live on and inspire strength, resilience, and generosity in those whose lives she touched.
