Lewiston, ME - It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Gerald R. “Gerry” Chouinard, 82, on January 26, 2024. Gerald passed away at Marshwood Nursing Home after a short illness with his loving wife and daughter at his side.
Gerald is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jacqueline (Morin) Chouinard, his daughter Celeste Rouleau and her husband Paul, grandchildren Kyle Rouleau and Alyssa Rouleau, sisters Jacqueline Chouinard and Constance Pelletier and many loyal friends and extended family members. Gerald was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Fernande Chouinard.
Gerry was born in Lewiston on January 10, 1942 to Robert Chouinard and Fernande (Roux) Chouinard. He attended St Dominic High School and graduated with the class of 1960. Throughout his career he worked in various wholesale and retail home improvement stores. Prior to his retirement he worked for the Lewiston School department, retiring in 2014.
In his retirement Gerry could be found with his group of best buddies, enjoying his passion for golf and sports, most notably being at every hockey and football game, cheering on the local teams.
Gerry was strong willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He was generous and loyal to all he knew and loved. His infectious smile, mischievous blue eyes and ability to make friends with everyone he met assured he was always remembered. Above all things, Gerry enjoyed time with his family most, trips together with family will be memories always treasured.
He will be remembered for all the passion he shared with friends and family. Despite his illness, he carried himself with strength and dignity, full of love for those who went before him and those who surrounded him. He will be missed by all who knew him.
In typical Gerry fashion, he has asked that we remember him not with a service but with a celebration of life. To honor his request, a small graveside service and celebration of life will be held this Spring.
The family would like to send their sincere appreciation to Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice and Marshwood Nursing Home for the dedicated staff and excellent care and compassion that was extended to Gerry and his family.
