Georgette Gilbert

LEWISTON - Georgette V. Gilbert, 87, died on December 24, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital. Georgette was born in Lewiston, Maine on December 18, 1930, the daughter of Albert Lamontagne and Ida Croteau-Lamontagne. She attended St. Mary’s School. She worked in the mills and shoe factories, retiring from Knapp Shoe after 34 years of service. She belonged to the Ladies of St. Ann’s and was a lifelong member. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Church until its closing and then transferred to Holy Family Church. While at St. Mary’s she belonged to all three choirs and served on all activities of the church until its closing. She was predeceased by her husband, Laurier L. Gilbert whom she married July 30, 1949. She was predeceased by her parents, 4 sisters, Muriel Lamontagne, Joline Jourdain, Joanne Roberts, Antonia Crowell, 1 brother Richard Lamontagne, 2 brother-in-laws, Roger Jourdain, Wilbur Crowell and 2 sister-in-laws, Muriel Johnson and Lorraine Lavoie. She leaves many nieces and nephews and their families; whom she loved as her own. She also leaves her wonderful neighbors, and all of her many friends for whom she had a great affection and all of her bingo buddies, whom she loved very much. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses from St. Mary’s Hospital who took care of her during her very short stay. We are truly appreciative of all the wonderful care she received; please know that we love you all.
