Lewiston - George B. Longley, 87 of 550 College Street, formerly of 249 Grove Street, Lewiston died Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Central Maine Medical Center following a long illness. He was born in Lewiston on April 16, 1923 the son of Thomas and Mary Sullivan Longley. He attended schools in Lewiston, graduating from Lewiston High School in 1940. George proudly served his country during World War II seeing duty in Sicily, Rome, Southern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He married Anita Beaudoin on February 23, 1946 and enjoyed sixty-five years of marriage with his loving wife. George was a member of Saint Patrick’s Parish in Lewiston. His work life was spent in the construction industry; he was an active member of Local # 783 of the Pipefitters Union. He is survived by his daughter Carol Ann Milliken (Harry) of Lewiston and his son Michael of Brunswick. He had four grandchildren: Eric Milliken ( Wendy ), Amy Brousseau ( Scott ), Mary Longley and David Longley. He leaves four great grandchildren all of whom brought him great joy in his later years. He leaves many dear nieces and nephews both here in Maine and in California.Mr. Longley was predeceased by a sister Mary (Peggy) Keith, brothers Allen, Richard and Thomas and a great granddaughter Hailey Brousseau. The family would like to thank all the caregivers at Montello Manor and especially the staff at CMMC, T-1 for the skill and kindness shown to Mr. Longley.
