Born and raised in Lewiston, Diane graduated from Lewiston High School and, in 1968, married her high school sweetheart, Richard Caron. Together, they built a beautiful life at 38 Tarr Ave., where they raised their three children, Shannon, Danielle, and Ryan.
Diane dedicated her early years to raising her children before re-entering the workforce. She worked for many years at the local grocery store, Cottle's, before transitioning to a role as a wire technician at Phillips Elmet, where she remained until retirement. Even after retiring, she continued to give back to her community, working in the childcare department at the YWCA, where her warmth and kindness were deeply felt.
Diane was her children's biggest supporter and their loudest and most enthusiastic cheerleader at sporting events. She was known for her generosity and willingness to help anyone in need. Above all, her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren Rylan, Reid, Olivia, and Madison—who were the light of her life. She had many passions, including listening to music, dancing, painting ceramics, gardening, golfing, and cooking. Her family cherishes the memories of her delicious home-cooked meals, and they continue to make her most beloved recipes for family gatherings. Her cheesecake, in particular, was legendary. Diane also loved traveling, with some of her favorite destinations being Aruba, Florida, and Hawaii.
Diane is survived by her daughter Shannon and son-in-law Michael, daughter Danielle, son Ryan and his wife Jenn, and her adored grandchildren, Rylan, Reid, Olivia, and Madison. She also leaves behind her sister Claire Plourde and brother-in- law Maurice Plourde; sisters-in-law Louise Lapointe, Joline Caron, and Janice Caron; goddaughter Laurie Ouellette and husband Ray; nieces and nephews Debbie Jacques and husband Jim, Lisa Novicki and husband Mike, Jeff Plourde and wife Christine, Michelle Hill and husband Craig, Nicole Michaud and husband Sean, and Randy Caron and wife Dawn; as well as many grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Diane's incredible caregivers, who provided not only care but companionship, joy, and dignity throughout the different stages of Alzheimer's. Kimmie, Anita, Nicole, Emily, Sherrie, Kaila, Maria, Tina, and Rita went above and beyond-taking Diane on walks, shopping trips, craft sessions, card games, and even dance parties. Their kindness allowed Diane to remain in the comfort of her home, and for that, the family is forever grateful.
Diane was predeceased by her beloved husband of 54 years, Richard Caron; her parents, Bernadette and Armand Lapointe; her in-laws, Ida and Roland Caron; brother, Fern Lapointe; her brother-in-law, Ron Caron; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen and nephew, Robin Caron.
Diane's warm heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
