Brian G. Long, age 72, passed away peacefully on January 9th 2024, with his beloved wife Kathy by his side. Born in Lewiston to Gerard and Cecile Long on January 17, 1951. As a young boy, Brian’s work ethic began and continued throughout his life, from mowing lawns, shoveling driveways and washing floors for his elderly neighbors, he was always a helping hand. Brian joined the marines and served in the Vietnam War. After returning home he worked as a roofer, carpenter, linesman, mechanic, then a career at Pioneer Plastics for 30 years as a boiler operator, retiring in 2017, having never missed a day of work.
Brian was a true New England sports fan, Red Sox (Big Papi), Patriots (Tom Brady), Bruins (Brad Marchand), and Nascar (Dale Earnhardt). Anyone who knew Brian could count on him to help them with any project they had, he was talented and generous to a fault. An avid outdoors man he enjoyed boating, hunting, fishing of every kid, as well as camping and snowmobiling. Fort Kent was his favorite place to enjoy the Maine outdoors and per his request, will be where his ashes are spread. Brian spent many seasons boiling sap, pressing apples, paddling the river and ice fishing with his daughters, stepson and grandchildren. He and his wife enjoyed traveling Maine and New England and many other states. Cruising to beautiful islands, his favorite was St. Kitt’s. He also traveled to Alaska with his daughter Kim and his brother Jim. Simply to hear the name Brian Long, brings a smile to the face of any who had the pleasure of knowing him. Up for any adventure, he was the life of every party and his laugh was infectious. Brian could be counted on to lend an ear or a shoulder to anyone in need.
A Vietnam Veteran, he served his country proudly and will be given a soldiers farewell.
