Born and raised in Philadelphia, he was the proud son of the late Clara (nee Stopher) and James F. Pfau and was the proud son-in-law of the late, John and Catherine Mueller.
Tom served his country in the United States Army, where he earned the rank of Sergeant, as well as the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Expert Marksman Medal. He proudly wore Army Veteran hats and attire. Tom was always grateful when people would stop and thank him for his service. In Tom's honor, please always take a moment to "Thank a Vet".
Tom was a hard working and dedicated man. He spent over 20 years working in the ACME Bakery Warehouse and then went on to spend 21 years working as an Inventory Manager for Proctor & Gamble. In his free time, he loved being outside and would spend hours upon hours tending to his beautiful garden. Tom cherished Sunday morning breakfast after church with his family. His true passion was classic and antique cars. Tom prided himself on the fact that he was the original owner of a 1974 Pontiac GTO Hatchback. He enjoyed going to countless car shows alongside his brother Jim and won numerous car show awards. Most recently, Tom and his beloved GTO won the People's Choice Award in the Irish Rover Father's Day Car Show this past June.
Tom was blessed to marry the love of his life, Margaret "Peggy" (nee Mueller), and they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on October 20, 2023. He is the beloved father of Kelly (Brad) Ortman and Maggie (Kevin) Pavel; grandfather of Katrina (David) Timberman, Natalie Ortman (Erblin), Lexi Pavel and Allie Ortman. Tom was thrilled to soon become a great grandfather.
Tom was the dear brother of James (late Bunny), Jerry (late Butch), late Bob (Pat), Joyce (Steve), late Billy, Sharon (Gene), Ronald, Dee (Michael), and Debbie (Al).
Tom was also an admirable brother to Kathleen (late Ray), late Joey (Eleanor), John (Joan)
and Jimbo. He will be greatly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet his family on Thursday, October 5, 2023 from 8:30 until 10:00 AM at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 66 Levittown Parkway, Levittown, PA 19054, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM. Thomas will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at a later date in Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
Tom cared deeply about helping children who are sick or disabled, and his wishes were that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name would be made to CHOP, PO Box 781352, Philadelphia, Pa 19178-1352 or at www.give2chop.edu
