Robert attended Salem High School and graduated with the class of 1975, shortly after he joined the military. Robert proudly served in the United States Air Force for sixteen years with honor and distinction. During his service he held various responsibilities such as security police officer and dog handler among other duties. He was very accomplished in the military and received many awards for his achievements and expertise.
After his service in the military, Robert worked as a Deputy Sheriff for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. Robert then went on to work at the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission where he made many close friends and worked hard to support his family.
As Robert grew up in Salem, Ohio, he was a part of a Boy Scouts troop “Troop 6”, where he volunteered and helped his community, earning many badges for his helping hand. Robert had a diverse range of hobbies and interests including all things aviation, learning about military history, hunting with friends and family, drawing and painting, writing poems and short stories, being in and connecting to nature, collecting crystals and various rocks, antiques and building various wood crafted items. He also enjoyed cooking and was a food fanatic, often times Robert could be found making his adored homemade chicken noodle soup, chili or stuffed peppers.
Robert will be greatly missed for his infectious laugh, his kind heart, his creative spirit, being a great teacher, his sense of dark humor, and his prankster personality. All those close to Robert will always appreciate his ability to stay calm amongst the storm, his listening ear, his patience throughout tribulations, how he wore his heart on his sleeve, and his love for all those he knew. Robert was more than just a husband, father, brother, comrade, and friend, he was a blessing to all that crossed his path. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
He is preceded in death by his father; Robert E. Beer Sr. and his mother Mary Lou (O’Neill). Survived by his wife, Joyce (Connelly) and his two sons; Robert E. Beer III, Patrick A. Beer (Kristin); one grandson, William M. Beer and his daughter, Rhiannon Beer; his siblings Mary Kathryn Siembida (Tom), William Beer (Barbara), and Theodore Beer, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Services: On Saturday March 11, the viewing is from 10am until 12pm at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, PA 19056. On Monday March 20, the burial will start at 1:30pm at Washington Crossing National Cemetery located at 830 Highland Road, Newtown PA 18940.
