Lloyd Weston, age 84, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023 at his home in York, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Lloyd Weston and Rita (Patterson) Weston, and his younger brother Edward Patrick Weston.
Born on September 18, 1938 in Philadelphia, Lloyd was raised in Bridgewater, Lower Bucks County. He graduated from Northeast Catholic High School in 1956 and went on to serve in the US Navy until 1959 on the USS Ticonderoga CV-14. After leaving the military, he was employed as a motor inspector at US Steel. While there, he served as the Employee Assistance Professional for Local 4889, helping to counsel employees and families struggling with addiction. Upon retirement from US Steel, he worked in marketing as an industrial liaison for the drug and alcohol units of White Deer Run and later Charter Fairmount Institute.
Lloyd lived in Langhorne for many years and then relocated to Boyertown for 12 years where he was employed part-time by Christman’s Nursery and Martin Motorsports. In 2010 he and his wife moved to York to be closer to family.
Lloyd would have celebrated 50 years of sobriety on July 1st. He maintained his sobriety by following the Serenity Prayer and embracing the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous. It was in AA where he made many friends and was always willing to share his story in the hope that it would help others. He loved cheering on the Phillies and watching sports on TV. Through the years, Lloyd enjoyed spending time outdoors skiing, fishing, camping, canoeing, and motorcycle riding.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, who was blessed to be married to him for 54 years, Gail (Sweeny) Weston, his two daughters Joann (Eric) Davis and Lynn (Bryan) Van Lenten, one grandson Evan Davis, and several cousins.
Lloyd was a one-of-a-kind guy who was grateful for all that he had in his life. He approached everything he did full-force; there was no halfway for Lloyd. He was a strong presence with an Irish gift-for-gab and will be deeply missed.
