Born in Philadelphia in September of 1952, he was a life long resident of Lower Bucks County residing in Levittown, Fallsington and Langhorne. He graduated from Bishop Egan High School in 1970. A man of great faith, Edward was a member of St Michael's, St Joseph's and Our Lady of Grace parishes.
Upon graduating high school he continued to educate himself in the glazing trade. With his partners he grew two successful businesses, Markey & Young and Keystone Aluminum & Glass. A glazier for 45 years, he was well respected in that community.
One of Edward's favorite places was Sea Isle City, NJ where he spent almost 30 years with family and friends. He loved the 4th of July fireworks on the beach and you could often find him standing at the edge of the ocean watching his grandchildren play in the water.
Edward loved sports. He coached baseball for Levittown American and CYO when his sons were young. He was a dedicated Philly sports fan and enjoyed watching games in his favorite recliner.
Son of the late Edward F Markey Sr. and Mildred Markey and brother of the late, Mark Markey, Edward is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Linda Markey; sisters, Dorothy Markey-Wilcox and Millie Rutkowski; his children, Kelly Markey, Terry Stoneberg and her husband Ryan, Edward F Markey III and his wife Kim Beury, and Patrick Markey and his wife Erin and his grandchildren Kelton, Jacob, Alexander, Brin, Lucas, Carlin, Eve, Lily, Beatrix and Malcolm.
The Markey family will receive relatives and friends from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 10th at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd., Levittown and again from 10 until 11 a.m. on Friday, November 11th at Our Lady of Grace Church, 325 S. Bellevue Avenue, Penndel where his funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. Interment will be private.
