She was born in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania to parents, Gertrude (Smith) and Frank Harrau.
Betty Jean was a 1949 graduate of Geisinger School of Nursing and worked at Parkview Hospital as a Labor and Delivery Nurse. She met the love of her life, William Barnes II of Danville, PA and they were married in Fort Rucker, AL on January 1, 1951 before he deployed to Korea.
Betty Jean and William eventually settled in Levittown and were original homeowners in Lower Orchard.
Betty was predeceased by her husband; her parents; and her children, Betty Jean Barnes and William Barnes III. She is survived by her devoted children, Barbara Barnes Rogers (Bruce), Barry Barnes (Linda), Beverly Palucis and Brenda Ardis; her grandchildren, Jason Rogers, Nicole Wood, Kelly Peterson, Katie Bachmann, Jeffrey Barnes, Jillian Palucis, Alyssa Pagel and Christopher John Ardis Jr.; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. from 9:15 until 10:15 am at Queen of the Universe Church, 2443 Trenton Road, Levittown, PA. She will be honored by the Bucks County Nurse Honor Guard prior to her funeral mass being celebrated at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at 3 pm at All Saints Cemetery, 172 All Saints Road, Elysburg, PA.
