Alexander "Sandy" Robert Aitken Alexander "Sandy" Robert Aitken died on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Silver Lake Nursing Home, Bristol. He was 73. Mr. Aitken was born in New York City on March 13, 1940 and was very proud of his Scottish and English decsent. He has been a resident of Levittown since 1972 He attended McBurney Prep School in New York City; and Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA where he received his Bachelor of Arts in History & political Science and graduated in 1962. Mr. Aitken was a US Air Force veteran from 1963-1967, serving in Lackland AFB, Texas; Clark Air Base, Philippines; Charleston AFB, Charleston, SC; and McGuire AFB , Burlington Twp., NJ, attaining the rank of Captain. He worked as a Territory Sales Manager for Kraft Dairy Group for 27 years, retiring in 1996. He then worked as a Bookseller at Barnes & Noble in Fairless Hills, PA for a number of years. He enjoyed fishing and camping and had a love of reading and volunteerism. He liked to travel and went on multiple domestic and international trips. He was also an avid animal lover and had 2 Siberian Huskies, Zemo and Cody. Alex was an Elder and Deacon at The First Presbyterian Church of Levittown. . Mr. Aitken was the beloved husband of Larraine Dawn (Culiberg) Aitken for 48 years and was the loving father of Keith and his wife, Jennifer Ann Aitken, Levittown, PA He will also be missed by his sister, Peggy Aitken; his nephews Scott Reday, Levittown, PA; Eric Reday (Christine), Bristol, PA; Glenn Reday (Patty), Plainsboro, NJ; Craig Reday (Maryanne), Levittown, PA; Christopher Reday, Charlotte, NC; nieces: Janine Allen (Dale) Levittown, PA; Jennifer Kocsak (Matt): Ewing, NJ; Carolyn O'Neill (Tom), Levittown, PA; Sarah Reday,Philadelphia He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Marguerite Aitken; his brother and sister in law, Eugene & Yvonne Reday, his nephew Todd Reday of Bristol, PA; his uncle, Jack Aitken; and his parents-in-law, Edward and Anna Culiberg. There was once a true officer & a gentleman, and his name was Alex Aitken. The family would like to thank the staff at Silver Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bristol for the care and concern for Alexander while he was a resident there. Family and friends are invited to his memorial service on April 6, 2013 at 4:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Levittown, 5918 Bristol Emilie Road, Levittown, PA 19057.
