Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Levelland with Dr. Sammy Elliott officiating, burial will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery. Visitation will be held tonight from 5-7 p.m. at George Price Funeral Home in Levelland, Texas.
Louella Mae Burtner Keeney “Billie” was born on March 26, 1921 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma to Clarence Claude Cheney and Jessie Mae McGuire Cheney.
She married James Edwin Burtner on July 11, 1944 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. They moved to Levelland in 1949. She worked at Levelland State Bank and South Plains College for over 15 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Levelland where she sang in the Sunshine Choir. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Levelland Eastern Star Chapter 797 where she was a member for over 50 years. She later married Morris Keeney in October 1998. She enjoyed her family, making beads and loved watching sports.
She is survived by her two sons; Mark Burtner and his wife Beckie of Levelland and James Burter and his wife Susan of Scottsdale, Arizona, four grandchildren; Michael Burtner and his wife Suzanne of Acton, California, Brandi Burtner Dickinson and her husband Tim of Lubbock, Christa Burtner Thomas and her husband Nick of Greenwood Village, Colorado and Breann Burtner Buxkemper and her husband Matt of Levelland, and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James “Jim” Edwin Burtner, Morris Keeney, one brother, Eugene Cheney and one sister; Gertrude Danforth.
