Visitation for Joy Juanita Doan Moore, 98, of Midland, will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2019, from 6pm to 8pm at George Price Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Friday, May 3, 2019, at 2pm at George Price Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Harold Harrison officiating. Interment will follow at the City of Levelland Cemetery.
Joy Juanita Doan Moore passed from this life on April 25, 2019 In Midland Texas at the age of 98. She was born January 14, 1921 in Merkel Texas to James Herman Doan and Vera Lois Provine Doan. Joy graduated from Merkel High School in the class of ‘39. She married Otis Branch Moore on October 12, 1940 in her parents’ home west of the small town of Blair, Texas. She and her husband raised cotton and grain sorghum on rented farmland in Taylor county Texas until 1956 when they purchased a small irrigated farm south of Whiteface Texas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Whiteface and taught Sunday school for many years. Joy was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Sam, her Husband of 51 years, one step-daughter, Jackie Moore Webb and son-in-law Donald Dale.
She is survived by sons Nathan and wife Chris of Leander, Texas, James and wife Linnie of Midland, Texas, Tommy and wife Rosa of Henderson, Texas, and one daughter Nita Dale of Gobles, Michigan, 19 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchild. Joy grew up during the depression and tried to teach her children and grandchildren to use their resources wisely. She was a hard worker and even worked as a substitute teacher into her 80’s. Joy loved her family and her face always lit up when any of her grandkids came in the room. She will be missed.
