John William Reber, 85, of Levelland, was received into the arms of the Lord on Monday, August 21, 2017, in Levelland, Texas. Family will receive friends on Thursday, August 24, 2017, from 6pm to 8pm at George Price Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 25, 2017, at 10am at George Price Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Mike Kelly officiating. Interment will follow at the City of Levelland Cemetery. John was born on May 28, 1932, to the late William Reber and Ethel Marie Mills Reber in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from Seagraves High School. He joined the Army Service Unit from Antiaircraft and Guided Missiles Branch of the Artillery School at Fort Bliss in 1953. He married Margie Porter on March 27, 1954 in Seagraves. He was honorably discharged from the Army, and then attended Texas Tech where he received his BS in Industrial Engineering in 1960. He stared work for SPS in Lubbock for 15 years then was transferred to Levelland where he retired in 1993. He taught a vocational program for SPS. He was a member of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers. He was the “Young Engineer of the Year”, in 1966. He was the Director of the Royal Ambassadors at Parkway Drive Baptist Church in Lubbock. He was a member of the Lubbock Explorer Scouts. He was a loyal member of the Lions Club in different towns for 22 years. He was a member of the RC Model Airplane Club. He was a loyal member of Parkway Drive Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Ethel.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Margie; son, Terry and wife Grata of Littlefield; grandson, Colt W. Reber of Lubbock; great granddaughter, Gemma Michelle Reber; a soon to be great-grandson; and son Bill Reber and wife Ether of Medical Lake, Washington.
