Jim Allen Cogdell, 45, passed away December 10, 2015 in Levelland. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 14, 2015, at Second Baptist Church with Mike Holster and Gil Ramirez officiating. Burial will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery. A family visitation will be held on Sunday, December 13, 2015, at George Price Funeral Home. Jim was born June 30, 1970 in Lubbock, Texas to Gene and Carolyn Cogdell. He graduated from Levelland High School in 1988 and attended South Plains College and South Plains College Law Enforcement Academy. Jim married Jennifer Abney on June 20, 1991. He began his law enforcement career at South Plains College Police Department, where he worked for 4 years. He then worked for the Levelland Police Department for 16 ½ years. While at the Levelland Police Department, Jim was a member of the Honor Guard, S.W.A.T Team, and rode motorcycles for several years. He also worked for the Lubbock County and Terry County Sheriff’s Departments. Jim was currently employed at Womack-Cavendar Farms taking care of their horses. Jim loved his family, but his true love was being out with the horses sharing his love of riding with his wife, girls and grandson. He was a member of Second Baptist Church, and also attended Park Drive Baptist Church. Jim is survived by his wife, Jennifer; daughters, Lisa Cogdell, Brittany Cogdell and Katelyn Cogdell; parents, Gene and Carolyn Cogdell; brother Gary Cogdell; parents-in-law, Mike and Barbara Abney; brother-in-law, Steve Kuhler; and one amazing grandson, Joshua Cogdell. He is preceded in death by his brother, Michael Cogdell and his grandparents.
