Mr. Minton was born in Wilkes County to the late Beatrice Calloway Minton and William Charlie Minton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul “Bud” Livingston.
He was a truck driver for Southeastern Freight Lines in Claremont for 23 years. He previously worked for 15 years as a driver for Thurston Motor Lines. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam Era and a member of West Lenoir Baptist Church.
Mr. Minton was a kind, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and hunting with his sons.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Coffey Minton, of the home; sons, Nathan Alan Minton and Derrick Lee Harrison, both of Lenoir; brothers, Jim Livingston of Gamewell, Charles Minton and Jack Minton, both of Lenoir; sisters, Janie Correll of Lenoir and Marlene Suddreth of Mt. Holly; one granddaughter, Hannah Nichole Gurley.
A funeral service will be held Friday, June, 25, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at West Lenoir Baptist Church with Reverend Rick Safriet, Reverend Charles Keever and Dr. James Lockee officiating. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 24, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Pendry’s Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Cook, Randy Greene, Mike Teeters, Steve Melton, Alan Nelson, Roger Britt, Barry McLean and Billy Hilton. Honorary pallbearers will be truck drivers from Southeastern Freight Lines.
