Born August 23, 1934, he was the son of the late Edmond and Lela Sanders. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by all five of his brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Marie Sanders; his children, Vanessa Sanders of Lenoir, Sonja and Reggie Greer of Lenoir, Robert Sanders of Lenoir, Teresa and Jerry Crouch of Morganton, and Sheila and Greg Brookshire of Lenoir; eleven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
He was the owner and operator of Lenoir Concrete Construction Company for 50 years.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 29, 2014 in Pendry’s Chapel at 4:00 p.m. with Reverend Shew officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be Buddy Greer, Chris Haynes, Josh Haynes, Kevin Bumgarner, Mark Bumgarner and Thomas Huffman. Honorary pallbearers will be Chase Webb, Dawton Greer, Ethan Price, Zachary Haynes, Donovan Hill, Nathaniel Miller, Cameron Bumgarner and Matt Clark.
