Terry Townsend

Mr. Townsend was born in Caldwell County on September 29, 1965 to the late Arthur Earl and Sarah Lois Pitts Townsend. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by infant brothers, Danny and Bobby Townsend.

He served in the United States Navy and was an avid golfer, playing often at The Coves Golf Course. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, playing games, etc.

Those left to cherish his memory are three brothers, Ron Townsend and wife Debbie of Warner Robins, GA, Mike Townsend of Lenoir, Tim Townsend and wife Patty, also of Lenoir, NC; and one sister, Susan Townsend Norris and husband, Curtis of Sanford, NC; niece, Renae Townsend Martinez and husband, Steve, their children, Jacob and Julia; nephews, Samuel, Joseph, and Jonathan Norris, Chad Townsend and wife, Chasity, Chris Townsend and son, Parker.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 21, 2011 at Pendry’s Funeral Home prior to the funeral service. The funeral service for “TT” will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Pendry’s Chapel with friend and fellow golfer, Reverend Jerry Tester, pastor at New Hope Christian Community Church officiating. Interment will follow the service in Boone, NC at the Pitts Family Cemetery at 4:00 pm with Bill Dotson officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Arrowood, Michael Callaway, Randy Barrier, Bill Morris, Chad Townsend, and Chris Townsend. Honorary pallbearers will be members of The Coves Golf Course and Sara Lee Bakery.

The family requests that memorials may be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645 in loving memory of his mother, Sarah Townsend.
