Mrs. McDonald was born in Caldwell County to the late Glenn Queen and Vertie Self Queen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne McDonald. She was a seamstress and a member of Collier’s United Methodist Church. She was very active until she became ill 2 years ago. Ruth was the former president of the Methodist Women of Colliers.
Survivors include her daughter, Jane Stroupe and husband Mark of South Carolina; her brother, Floyd Queen and wife Frances; her sister, Mabel Hoke and husband Johnny; her sister-in-law, Mag McDonald; her nephews, Ken Queen, and Buddy McDonald; and her nieces, Kara Queen, Lillie Ann Spears.
A funeral service will be held at Collier’s United Methodist Church Friday, March 22, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Lorie Ann Bowen officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Burial will be held in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Collier’s United Methodist Church, Relief Fund, 2625 Clarks Chapel Road, Lenoir, NC 28645.
