Robert Eugene Yount

Mr. Yount was born on January 27, 1943 in Catawba County to Ray Turnmire and the late Rachel Yount Chester .

Robert was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather, his life revolved around his family. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army and was an active member of Drowning Creek Baptist Church. Robert enjoyed gardening, canning, camping and fishing and loved the time he spent with his family.

In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Hass Yount, one son; Randy Yount, one sister; Brenda Poarch, one brother; Tim Turnmire, two great grandchildren; Logan Huffman and Kayla Miller.+

Those left to cherish his memory are his children; Keith Adams and wife Pat of Hudson, Jason Smith and wife Ashley, of Granite Falls, Cathy Cutshall and husband Ed of Granite Falls, Bobbi Brewer and husband Vic of Newton, Tina Neal of Cherryville, Lisa Sigmon and husband Odell of Hickory, three sisters; Betty Tomblin of Rhodhiss, JoAnn Fox, and Linda Hargett of Granite Falls. Also left to cherish his memory are his twenty-three grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 2, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Drowning Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Billy Miller and Reverend Randall Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at the Bollinger Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 1, 2016 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Drowning Creek Baptist Church.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Whisenant, Vic Brewer, Travis Neal, Jonathan Brewer, Jonathan Miller, and Jake Richmond.
