Mr. Richard James Rash passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem after a period of declining health. Mr. Rash was born August 31, 1950 in Caldwell County and was the son of the late Fred Lafayette and Myraba Harbin Rash.
Mr. Rash was a member of the Lenoir First United Methodist Church and a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was a faithful employee of The City of Lenoir, Parks and Recreation Department for 37 years. He was also employed with the American Red Cross for 8 years and then the Wilson Creek Visitor Center. He loved the Wilson Creek area and enjoyed all outdoor activities. Richard served on the Board of Directors for the Caldwell Senior Center and was involved in the planning for the Bridge To Bridge Ride for many years. He was also the head of Caldwell County Pathways, Inc. until recently.
Surviving Richard is his beloved wife, Kaye Beasley Rash and many extended family members. Family meant the world to Rick and his family will miss his gentle, encouraging manner and his ability to always see the best in people.
A Funeral Service to honor Richard will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home with Mr. Scott Coley officiating. Burial will follow the service at Belleview Cemetery in Lenoir.
The family will receive friends for 2 hours prior to the service at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home.
