Nora Virginia Ferguson Horton, age 77 of Lenoir, passed away, on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at her residence. Born Thursday, September 6, 1945 to the late Rose Lee Largent Ferguson and Sam Ferguson in Caldwell County, NC.
In addition to her parents, she is proceeded in death by her daughter Debra Jean Horton, Sister Mary Johnson Edmondson Glass, Brothers Harry Lee Ferguson, James Bubba Johnson, and Thomas Miller Johnson.
Miss. Horton is survived by her sons Robert T. Horton and Darrell E. Horton, daughters Ashley L. Horton, and Wendy L. Horton. Nora also leaves behind six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Sisters Rosetta Ferguson, and Freda Johnson, and Brother Fred Johnson and Carl W. Ferguson along with a number of nieces and nephews.
Nora will be remembered for being a loving mother and grandmother. A member of New Covenant United Methodist Church of Lenoir and St. James AME Zion of Maiden. Nora loved her Jesus and taught her children to love Jesus. She served her Lord faithfully. She was a hard worker and with any job she did, she was always early and ready to work. She served as a CNA for many years at Caldwell Memorial Hospital and also worked for Broyhill Furniture for over 20 years. She always kept a roof over her family's head, Shoes on their feet, clothes on their backs and food on the table. When Nora considered you as a friend, she would always go to bat for your. She would be with you through thick and thin, through the good and the bad times. She never met a stranger and showed kindness to all. She loved to laugh and make others laugh as well.
The Horton family will receive friends Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 12:00 pm - 1:45 pm at Pendry's Funeral Home.
The Funeral Service for Nora will be held at Pendry's Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at 2:00 pm with the Pastor Michael Hester, Minister Lesly Williamson and Pastor James Willfong officiating.
Burial will follow at The Horton Family Cemetery in Ferguson, NC. Serving as pallbearers will be Dezmon Horton, Tyler Dixon, Darrell Horton, Robert Horton, Ronnie McCurdy, and Mackachote Horton.
