Louie Dixon Lindsay of Lenoir, age 89, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at his residence. He was born Thursday, November 30, 1933 in Union County, NC, to the late Bogan Roscoe and Daisy Virginia Cook Lindsay.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his nine older brothers and sisters, Elzia Nash, Ervin (Bill) Lindsay, Birdie Mae Morris, Pauline Price, Bonnie (Bunch) Gill, Robert Lindsay, Alice (Faye) Gregory, Jack Lindsay and David (Ed) Lindsay.
Mr. Lindsay is survived by his lovely wife of 66 years, Jane Lindsay, and daughters, Laura (Pat) Sullivan, Donna (Greg) Penny, Carrie (Dusty) Crump, Denise (Gary) Greene. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Allison, Elizabeth, Audrey, Calvin, Jonathan, Casey, Will, Tiffany and Jake, along with 14 great grandchildren. Louie also leaves a number of nephews and nieces who will always remember their times together.
Louie will be remembered for being a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He served in the United States Army. He retired from Cellu Products/Sealed Air Corporation as a Production Manager after 32 years. Mr. Lindsay was an active member within the Parent Teacher Association, a Board Member of the Collettsville Fire Department for many years, and a lifelong church member holding various positions including teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. He was an avid sports fan and bowler, and he enjoyed listening to Southern gospel music.
The Lindsay family will receive friends Monday, April 3, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm at Gamewell United Methodist Church, 2897 Morganton Blvd. SW, Lenoir, NC, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Norm Sherwood officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park, 2017 Wilkesboro Blvd., Lenoir, NC. Military Honors will be provided by the U.S. National Guard.
