Jefferson Simmons and the late Effie Greene Simmons.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Joan Sisneros Simmons, his 12 siblings, Zelma (Susie) Greene, Mamie Faw, Ed Simmons, Raymond Simmons, Maude Simmons, Dallas Simmons, Pauline Simmons, Ina Mae Brothers, Willis Blackburn, James Simmons, Carl Simmons and Fred Simmons.
Kenneth was a proud veteran of the United States Army, a Little League baseball coach for 23 years and was a founding member of the Lenoir Rescue Squad. He was also an avid golfer, enjoyed playing cards, and loved to travel.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Mark Simmons of Snellville, GA, Frank Simmons and wife Sherry of Vale, Lori Haight and husband Rick of Lincolnton, a daughter-in-law, Kelly Johnson of Clayton, four grandchildren, Kenny Haight of Lincolnton, Olivia Simmons of Bay City, TX, Matthew Haight of Lincolnton and Ricky Haight of Kentucky. He is also survived by his girlfriend, Doris Riley of Lenoir.
A funeral service to honor Kenneth will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at 3:00 pm at Union Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Sam Craven officiating.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, from 1:45 pm until 2:45 pm at the church.
