December 15, 2018 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson. Gladys was born on April 22, 1929 in Caldwell County to the late James and Nanny Hood. She was employed at the Caldwell County Department of Social Services for many years and retired from there as well. She was a member of Hood’s Chapel UCOG for over 65 years where she served on the Usher Board and Missionary Department where she was Vice President and President. To Gladys, it was important to lead loved ones to Christ. She was the pillar of her family and her life was a testament to her faith. Gladys was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clyde White of Moore County; two sons, Isiah and John; five brothers, Gordon, Lee, Ray, Preston, and Bobby Hood; four sisters, Hattie Hood, Jessie Horton, Mable Ferguson and Betty Hood; and one sister-in-law, Francis Johnson. She leaves her legacy of love and inspiration to her four daughters, Bonita and Rebecca White of the home, JoAnn (Wesley Froneberger) of Charlotte, NC and Jeanette (Billy Buie) of Sanford, NC; one daughter-in-law Barbara White of New Jersey; one son Eugene (Linda Corpening) of Lenoir, NC; and two sisters, Charlotte Hood and Grace Ferguson and a host of grands, great grands, and great-great grandchildren - she had over 90 grandchildren. Also left to cherish her memory are a host of nieces and nephews. A funeral service celebrating Gladys’ life will be held at Hood’s Chapel United Church of God on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 1:00 pm with Evangelist Diane Hester and Bishop Philmore Hester officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at the church. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir.
