He was born December 22, 1935 to the late Lloyd Vance and Mamie Hammette Vance in Washington County, Tennessee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellis Vance; and brother, Dannie Vance.
He is survived by sons, Charlie Ray Vantz of Lenoir, Neil Lloyd Vance and wife Kathy of Lenoir, David Wilburn Vance of Morganton, and Charles Roy Vance Jr. and wife Melissa of Granite Falls; sister, Stella Gowen of Leoma, Tennessee; three granddaughters; and three great-grandsons.
Mr. Vance will be remembered by his happy, flirty character and his smile and kindness.
