Anna Brookshire Curtis, 91, of the Kings Creek Community, passed away at Caldwell County Hospice and Palliative Care on March 26, 2014. She was born in Caldwell County on April 23, 1922, to the late Elisha Herring and Ola Floy Laxton Brookshire.
Ann was a member of Kings Creek Baptist Church and worked for many years as a medical office assistant for both Dr. Kenneth Carpenter and Dr. Donald Lackey in Lenoir. Until a few years ago, she was a Green Thumb worker at Wilkes Community College in North Wilksesboro. She was also a past member of the Kings Creek Fire Auiliary.
In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Columbus Curtis, two brothers, Ned and John Nelson Brookshire, Sr., and a daughter, Martha Ford Allen.
She is survived by a sister, Mavis Brookshire Robbins Fleming, her granddaughter, Lori Bryant of the home, grandsons Scott and Dennis Bryant, a step daughter, Patricia Curtis Kight and stepson Wayne Curtis of Claxton, Georgia and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
According to her wishes, graveside services were held at Blue Ridge Cemetery on Friday, March 28.
