Johnny “Buck” Fate Sheppard, 66, of Leesville, passed away on June 12, 2017. He was born on January 24, 1951 to parents Deward Eugene Sheppard and Aline Cryer. Mr. Sheppard was a lifelong resident of Vernon Parish. He began working for James Killian at the age of 14 as a mechanic. He worked for Huey Wilson in the logging business, then for Gerald Blackwell for seven years. He worked for Melvin Gordan for four years and then bought the company S&G Auto Service in Pickering, Louisiana from Mr. Gordan on August 14, 1981, he owned his company for 36 years. He was a generous man, had lots of friends and loved his family. He loved riding horses, 4 wheelers and dancing. He was married to the love of his life for 45 years.
He is preceded in death by his father, Deward Eugene Sheppard; one son, Steven Sheppard; one sister, Rita Roberts.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl Sheppard; mother, Aline Cryer; two sons, Clay Sheppard and wife, Jaime, Clifton Sheppard and his wife, Kimberly; two daughters, Melinda Boycher and husband, Kenneth, Michelle Harper and husband, Charlie; two brothers, James Brown and wife, Susan, Albert Brown; three sisters, Joyce Ray, Jeannie Brown and Linda Brown; eight grandchildren and one great – grandchild.
Services will be held at Christian Living Fellowship Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 5pm. Visitation will be held at Hixson Funeral Home in Leesville, Tuesday, June 13, 2017 from 4:00-9:00 pm, Wednesday, June 14, 2017 from 11:00 am until 9:00 pm, and resume at Christian Living Fellowship on Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 10:00 am until time of service at 5:00 pm. Burial will follow in Cooper Cemetery.
