James C Layman

Layman, James Carl, born November 11, 1929. Went to be with the Lord October 17, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Grace Layman and his loving wife of 47 years Billie T Layman. Visitation will be at Kilgore Funeral Home in Leeds, Al on October 19, from 6 to 8 PM. He will be laid to rest in Cuirrie-Jefferson Memorial Gardens on October 20th at 1:00 PM with Military honors.

He is survived by his Daughter Victoria L Carmon and her husband Lawrence, Grandson James D. Layman and his wife Tina, Granddaughters Victoria Cochran and her husband Micah, Tiffany Ledet and her husband Michael, Great Granddaughters Keara, Beth and Anna and his brother Richard Layman.

Mr. Layman was retired from the USMC serving in Korea. He was blinded in Korea and consequently a great advocate for locating the Blind rehab center in Birmingham at the VA Hospital. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and VFW and BVA. He held a Masters in Education from UAB. He was the best Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather a family could have. You will live in our hearts.
