July 25, 1952 to May 27, 2021
Born in Opelika, Alabama. He is predeceased by his parents Edward Michael Moses and Kathryn Parks Moses of Talladega, Alabama. His Paternal Grandparents, William Benjamin Moses and Portia Palmer Bailey Moses. Maternal Grandparents, Bowden James Parks and Vallie Purtle Parks. He is survived by his wife, Maxine Crawford Moses and his sister Patricia Moses Norton and her sons’ Robert Michael Norton and Benjamin Parks Norton.
He attended Talladega High School, Auburn University and UAB. During his Naval career he served on the USS Yosemite as well as other deployments. Once he completed his service he met and married Maxine Crawford Moses. Their marriage of many hunting and fishing trips, and other adventures ended on May 27, 2021.
Michael began his career in professional sales and joined Cargill Salt Division. Over his 31-year career with Cargill, he enjoyed calling on customers and providing the availability of specialized salt products in every industry from Agriculture, Chemical, Food, Municipal Roadways, Pharmaceutical and Textile. He helped grow this new division including the establishment of a business that catered to Aluminum recycling. He developed and managed Agriculture Salt Distributors for Avery Island and helped setup the Memphis Rock Salt Terminal as well as a Terminal in Florence, Alabama. Michael received many awards for top salesman of the year. What Michael cherished the most was the numerous friendships he developed over the years with customers and coworkers across the nation.
His love of cooking and enjoyment of people and service was always apparent. He was a member of the Lions Club and being a part of the annual barbeque was a great joy to him. He was an Usher for many years at Church of the Highlands but found a loving home at Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Leeds, Alabama.
We will celebrate his life on June 5, 2021 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Leeds, Alabama at 2:00pm. Greeting of the family will begin at 1:30pm and continue after the service until 3:00pm. The family asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.
