Bobby Lee Helms, 63, passed away at UAB hospital Tuesday, September 14th surrounded by family and friends. He was born at University Hospital in Birmingham Alabama and grew up with his sister and brother in Trussville. Bobby was respected as a loyal and dedicated supervisor at Motion Industries as a Hydraulic technician for 30+ years. He was an incredible study of everything he did and attended several hydraulic, mechanical, electrical and product schools throughout his career. He was admired for his ability to create or fix anything and was a valued employee until he retired in 2020. Bobby grew up building and racing cars and eventually started a business called Radical Rides. He enjoyed restoring and building golf carts for friends and family. Often referred to as Superman, he had super strength and an unmatched spirit for life. He was strong in faith and strong in love. He was loved by so many for his sense of humor and big smile. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed spending time at the lake or in the company of his friends and family.
He was an adored son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He had a way of making people feel like they were the most special person in the room, while everyone already knew who really was… him. He will be greatly missed and remembered as everyone’s superhero. He would be waving the checkered flag for us all today as he completes his final race.
The memory of a good person is a blessing.
