On the morning of December 6th, Rudolf passed away at the age of 91 in Leduc, AB. The last six years, Parkinson’s and Lewy Body Dementia slowly took him from his loved ones and the things he loved to do.
Rudy is survived by his wife of 62 years, Herta; five daughters: Lorrie (Melvin), Rose (Dennis), Val (Raymond), Christine (Darren) and Lisa (Trevor); Grandchildren: Wade (Michelle), Carrie (Shawn), Jason, Steven (Michelle), Dyson (Amber), Bailey (Joel), Lacey (Mark), Kayla (Kevin), Colton and Rachil; Thirteen Great-Grandchildren, sister Erica, nieces, nephews, family in Germany and close friends.
He was predeceased by his daughter Monica, parents, Heinrich and Helene, an infant brother, brother-in-law’s Albert & Herman, in-laws Elizabeth and Peter.
Rudy was born in Poland on October 19, 1932. He joined the army when he was 12, immigrated to Canada by boat when he was 16. In 1956 he worked at Gainer’s in Edmonton where he met and fell in love with Herta. They married on July 8, 1961, created a beautiful life for their six daughters on a farm near Thorsby. First dairy, then beef and sometimes it was like Ol’ MacDonald’s farm with a variety of animals. Rudy loved his family, wrestling, his many animals, driving his truck and meeting the guys for coffee. He was a fan of western music, movies and TV shows. He could tell you any actor/actresses’ names and which ones they stared in. His belly laugh was infectious. He’d give the shirt off his back to anyone who asked. He was very proud of his girls and told anyone who would listen what they were up to. Rudy was a husband, father, son, brother, uncle & friend who is dearly missed by all who knew him.
Rudy’s celebration of life will be held in the spring under his favourite tree on the farm.
