Rose "Penny" Marie Eckert

Our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, mother-in-law, great-grandmother, and friend, Rose Marie “Penny” Eckert, 85, of Quentin, PA entered into eternal rest with Jesus on November 17, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 9, 1939, Penny was the daughter of the late Walter F. and Katherine S. Hoyer Nelson. She was the wife of the late Earl E. Eckert, Sr., who passed away on October 4, 2007. Penny was predeceased by her daughter, Kim Erb, sister, Mary “Dolly” Arnold, and brother, Walter “Cork” Nelson. She is survived by her son, Earl Eckert, Jr. (Cindy), son-in-law, David Erb, grandchildren Sarah Windish (John), Brandon Eckert (Mindy), Travis Eckert (Holly), Shelly Erb, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Penny cared deeply for others, whether it was supporting and loving her family and friends, or through volunteer organizations such as the Ladies Auxiliary and Relay for Life. Her care for others was evident in her long career at Hershey Medical Center, where she worked in pediatrics. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Fire Hall and Fredericksburg Legion, and enjoyed listening to music and dancing. Some of her greatest joy came from tending her flower gardens and baking.

A celebration of life will be held on November 23 at Rohland Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 1:00, followed by the service at 2:00. Public interment at Kimmerlings Church, with light refreshments to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice for All Seasons or The Alzheimer’s Association.
