Rodney J. Mays, 80, passed away on Thursday May 23, 2013 in his residence. He was the husband of the late Imogene “Jean” Roark Mays. He was born in Palmyra on May 23, 1933 a son of the late Edwin M. and Mary Youtz Mays. He was a graduate of Millersville State College and was retired from the State and Federal Government as an economist for the Department of Agriculture. He served in the U. S. Army as a helicopter mechanic at Ft. Benning, GA from 1953 to 1955 and in the Army Reserve from 1955 to 1963. Rodney was a devoted Christian man who was a long-standing member of Grace Chapel of Deodate and enjoyed many years of Christian Retreat with his wife in Florida. He was a great supporter of Jubilee Ministries and held his missions trip to Haiti near to his heart. He had attended Cornwall U. M. Church in recent years and was a long-time member of the Lebanon County Historical Society. He enjoyed working in his yard and watching the hummingbirds. He is survived and will be sadly missed by daughters: Jan wife of Larry Klink and Jean Petry, both of Lebanon; son: David and wife June Gleason, OH; grandchildren: Stephen Mays, Jennifer Hoyer, Michael Tanner, Michelle Carlton, Christine Robinson, David Gleason; great-grandchildren: Noah Light, Stephen Mays, Jr., Kyle Hoyer, Grace, Sophia and William Tanner; T.J., Brian and Justin Carlton; Nicole Andrews, Robby and Brooke Robinson. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Sabrina Mays. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. in the Rohland Funeral Home, 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon, PA 17042. Interment will be made in the Quentin Cemetery. There will be a viewing on Sunday from 6 to 8 P.M. and Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. to the time of service in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Jubilee Ministries, 235 S. 12th St., Lebanon, PA 17042.
