Born and raised in the Oak Park suburb of Detroit, Michigan, Anita was a graduate of Mumford High School. After obtaining her undergraduate degree in education from the University of Michigan and enrolling in a master’s program at Michigan State, Anita's journey took a serendipitous turn when she met Stephen Winer after being set up on a blind date. Their connection was immediate, and they shared 54 wonderful years of marriage, filled with countless cherished memories.
Anita dedicated her professional and personal life to making a difference in the lives of others. For many years, she worked as a teacher for the blind and in special education, where she had the privilege of imparting the greatest gift of all – the pursuit of knowledge - to numerous students with special needs. Anita was driven in her life. Her decision to run for North Cornwall Township Supervisor was fueled by her desire to create positive change. Anita fearlessly championed causes close to her heart, striving to build a more equitable and compassionate society for all.
She found immeasurable joy in watching her son Arthur grow into a remarkable individual and marry his caring wife, Jennifer Gillman. Their connection was deep and meaningful, bringing additional warmth and love into Anita's life.
In recent years, Anita's greatest joy came from spending time with her beloved granddaughter, Aviva Winer. Her face would light up with pure delight in Aviva's presence, and her love for her granddaughter knew no bounds.
Anita's larger-than-life personality was a tour de force, touching the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
