Lawrence "Larry" Allen Loew

Lawrence Allen Loew was born September 21, 1936 in Litchfield, Illinois to parents Climmont Christian Loew and Ruth Lucille Strandberg of Litchfield, Illinois. Lawrence passed from this life on November 15th, 2024 at home. He was surrounded by his wife, Joanne and son, Tom.

Larry grew up in several Illinois communities (Litchfield, Lebanon and Lawrenceville). He graduated from Urbana High School with honors, and active in the Camera Club, Travel Club, Acappella Choir and Boys Quartet, plus team manager for several sports. He was designated as one of the two representatives from Urbana High School for Boys State in Illinois.

Larry attended the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, where he graduated June 1958 with a BFA in Advertising Design. While at college he was a member of Theta Chi social fraternity and President of the Society of Illustrators in the College of Fine & Applied Arts.

He went through the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) program at the University of Illinois and became a commissioned officer in the US Army Quartermaster Corps in June 1958, and served 7-1/2 years in the US Army Reserve.

On June 21, 1958, he married Dolores Lamport in Elmhurst, Illinois, where they had two sons, David and Tom. They were active in their church activities and raising the boys. They divorced in 1975. Larry continued his design career in Chicago until moving to Austin in 1986, when he joined Fisher Controls (now part of Emerson Process Control), where he worked until his retirement in 1999. After joining Riverbend Church in Austin he met his future wife Joanne Lance in the Singles Class and they were actively involved in the tennis group within that class. They married in July 1989 at Riverbend. Larry and Joanne continued their involvement at Riverbend Church with two other adult classes and enjoying many wonderful relationships throughout the years. Larry and Joanne shared a most beloved and cherished marriage for the last 35 years.

Visitation will held 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, November 22, 2024 in the Chapel of Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 1200 South Bagdad Road, Leander, Texas. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 pm, on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at the Smith Family Chapel of Riverbend Church, 4214 Capital of Texas Hwy, Austin, TX. 78746. Reception at Riverbend Church to follow the Celebration of Life. Flowers may be sent to the “Smith Family Chapel” at the Riverbend Church.

Larry was the younger of two boys. He is predeceased in death by his oldest son, Dave and older brother Frederick Christian. Larry leaves behind a loving family who forever cherish his ongoing sense of humor and his deep appreciation for this life.

Great Granchildren- Kai Robertson, Stella and Aria Wallace, Olivia Menig, Jean-Luc Loew, Viola Lance.
