Helen Victoria Gwaldo, 75, of Leander, Texas passed away peacefully and with family by her side on January 11, 2024 in Austin, Texas. Helen will be dearly missed by her friends, family and all who were lucky enough to have her impact their lives.
Helen was born in Lakewood, New Jersey in 1948 to Victor and Dorothy White, and graduated from Lakewood High School. She went on to work several years in the clerical field, first at New Jersey Bell, and then Ocean County College before moving to Texas to be with her family. Helen moved to Texas in 1999 and worked at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. She loved to sew, cook and spending time with her family - especially being with her siblings Liz, Sue and Vic.
Helen and her husband Charles Gwaldo were married for over 52 years. They loved each other dearly and enjoyed going on cruises, traveling and spending time near the ocean. Charles was the love of her life, and in 1974 they had their first and only child, Christopher.
Helen’s favorite role in her life was that of being a Grandmother. She loved her three grandchildren with all of her heart, and enjoyed seeing them succeed in all that they did. She especially loved attending the musical performances of her granddaughters, the last one being a Christmas concert right before the holidays. She also enjoyed seeing her grandson blossom in his high school ROTC program.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Dorothy White, and brothers Edward and James. She is survived by her husband Charles, son Christopher, daughter in law Kristin and grandchildren Sophie, James and Katherine.
A memorial service will be held for Helen on Thursday February 1st, 2024 at 3:00 PM. The service will be at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church located at 1101 West New Hope Drive, Cedar Park TX 78613.
