She was born in Somerset, Texas April 15th, 1925 to Benjamin and Zuleka Gates.
She retired from the Texas State Board of Insurance, where she made many life long friends.
She enjoyed shopping for crafts and antiques for many years with her daughters in Fredricksburg, Gruene, and Salado.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Toni Ann Wright, her parents, her grandson Baron Thomas Bonds, her brothers Dick Gates, Harlan Gates and Jack Gates, her sisters Fern Maples, Sherrill Foster and Joan Knorr.
She is survived by her daughter Connie Campos, granddaughter Yvette Cleveland, great grandchildren Blake Bonds, Gavin Gill and Mia Hartley, brother Jerry Gates and sister Peggy Arp and many nieces and nephews including Brent Arp with whom she was especially close.
A graveside service for Doris will be held Monday, August 8, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Austin Memorial Park, 2800 Hancock Drive, Austin, TX 78731.
