Claylia was born on January 29th, 1945 in Brady, Texas to Wesley (Jake) and Mary Lucille Frost. Her school days were spent in Lohn,Texas before moving to Austin with her first-born son, Jay (Junior) Manuel in 1965. She married the love of her life, James (Jim) Dee Miller in 1971 and gave birth to their second son Mark Wesley Miller the following year. Claylia and Jim spent many years as owner/operators of Jim’s BBQ serving up amazing food in North Austin until they sold the business in 1988. In 1989, after getting educated as a drug and alcohol counselor, she began work for the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center in South Austin. Her work there for the next 30 years of her life was her passion and ministry. She impacted countless lives and made lifelong friends in the recovery community. Outside of work, Claylia enjoyed spending time with her family and serving in her local church.
Claylia is preceded in death by her parents and her husband James Dee (Jim) Miller.
Claylia is survived by her son Jay (Junior) Manuel of Liberty Hill, son Mark Wesley and wife Teri Miller of Liberty Hill, stepdaughter, Susan Miller Jennings and husband Terry of Temple; stepdaughter, Earin and husband Bobby Martin of Austin; grandchildren Aaron and Micah Miller, step-grandchildren Ryan Miller, Ron Jennings, and Jennifer Jennings Klepac; as well as her precious great-grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.
Funeral services to be held Friday, January 10th, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Liberty Hill Cemetery, 16101 State Hwy. 29 West, Liberty Hill 78642, with a viewing from 10:00-11:30 AM prior to the service at Weed-Corley- Fish Funeral Home, 1200 S. Bagdad Rd, Leander, Texas 78641.
