Charles was born and raised in Elizabeth, NJ, and eventually moved to Brick, NJ with his parents in his teenage years. Upon graduation from Brick High School, Charles enlisted in the United States Navy in 1964. Charles' was assigned to the USS Sagacity, a minesweeper ship on which he served during the Vietnam War. Upon receiving an honorable discharge from the Navy he moved back to New Jersey and married Helen Gwaldo in whom he was married over 50 years. Charles worked for Brick Township Public Works for over 20 years, and upon retirement in 1999 moved to Cedar Park, TX where he remained until his passing.
Charles was a lifelong member of the American Legion, and was an adamant supporter of US Veterans. He enjoyed fishing, boating, woodworking, riding motorcycles and spending time with his family.
Charles is preceded in death by his wife Helen Gwaldo, who passed away earlier this year, as well as his parents Charles Gwaldo Sr and Lillian Gwaldo. He is survived by his son and daughter in law, Chris and Kristin Gwaldo, and his grandchildren Sophie, James and Katherine, all of Leander, TX.

A memorial service for Charles will be held Friday, July 26, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 1200 S. Bagdad Road, Leander, Texas 78641.
