Bill Wood, 74, a 12-year resident of the Las Vegas area, passed away peacefully at home on December 27, 2013. He was born on September 26, 1938 in Blue Island, Illinois and was the youngest of three children. Bill attended Community High School and was very active in the school band playing the tuba. Bill was a devoted father of two children, son Daryl and daughter Kimberly. After Bill’s son was born with special needs, he became involved with a wonderful organization which provided a variety of programs and services for individuals with developmental disabilities. Bill’s belief in their mission was so strong that he had a desire to become instrumental in helping them meet that mission. Bill served as President of Park Lawn Association from 1981 to 1983, worked on the Board for about 10 years, as well as being on their finance committee.
Bill is preceded in death by his son Daryl Wood. He is survived by his wife Ginny; daughter Kim Gardner; a very special grandson John Gardner; brother Chuck Wood; sister Norma Sauerbier; and several nieces and nephews.
