We are so proud to have been able to meet Bill and Mac in Las Vegas two years ago. We shared some hours and left as friends. It was a terrific visit and we will never forget this meeting. 

For he shall give his angels charge over thee to keep thee in all thy ways.

Losing a parent/family member is rough.  My heart goes out to you and your family.  Bill will be missed dearly.  I've heard the saying Death leaves heartaches no one can heal, but love leaves memories no one can steal.  Keep your memories close, share them, they will keep you strong.  Our Condolences.  Love you all.

My first memories of Bill were when the family moved to Vegas in 1939, he was 8 years older than me but the Pursel families got together as Bill's father, my Dad Harry Pursel, and other brother Myron (Doc) Pursel all worked together at Nevada Beverage Company. Then in Jan 42 we drifted apart when our family moved to Wisconsin (where I was born in 33), and later my older brother (Harry) and I went off to the Navy and never returned to Nv. But in the last 10 years we got somewhat reacquainted with visits to Vegas, and contact over the internet with Mac. One always wishes they had taken more time to visit and talk about the "good old days"  and meet more of the families. But such was not the case. My wife (Naomi) and I will miss Bill but will stay connected through Mac. By older brother Harry (now living in WI), also sends his prayers  and best wishes to Bill's family and the Pursel clan in Vegas.   Joe Pursel, Bremerton WA

Mr. Pursel (still can't call him Bill) was one of the special men I looked up to growing up. He set the standard when it comes to great husbands and fathers I have known. I was so fortunate to be welcome into your house. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.

It has been my good fortune having crossed paths with Bill Pursel. My very first contact with Bill  began on December 21 2007. Each and every day I thank my lucky stars having been able to call Bill Pursel my good friend... and as well consider Bill's wonderful family friends.

I will always regret not having personally shaken Bill's hand. My wife Betty Jane just yesterday expressed her regret as well that we never got to Vegas. Nevertheless for ten years Bill and I almost on a daily basis shared very long e-mails on every subject under the sun - many of which centered on our careers, our life's experiences and many political observations.

We had much in common... love of family and country. We were both veterans. We both played sports and I came to realize that Bill had been an exceptional athlete.... to no surprise to me. We were both baseball catchers... one specific BW Pursel family photograph that Bill had gifted to me showed Bill and twin brother Dick and brother Tom as well - Tom shown holding a catcher's glove. 

First and foremost Bill Pursel was extremely proud of his entire family. Bill time and again expressed his love for his family and often referred to his wife Mac as his his angel. Over ten years Bill shared family stories and sent to me many family photographs that are now part of a very thick heavy notebook that so far weighs 7.4 pounds. I expect more e-mails  will be printed out for safe keeping and for posterity - my grandchildren who already know Bill Pursel's name will eventually have this notebook to keep.

Bill Pursel was well versed in history and a man of quick wit. On a dime Bill was able to come up with a poem. Bill wrote marvelous family Christmas time poems. In so many ways I came to appreciate that Bill Pursel was an extraordinary and unequaled gentleman - friend. 

Despite Bill's final days and his circumstance slowly passing into God's hands... when Mac told Bill that I had inquired about him... Bill was able to muster up his usual wit and humor  - "tell him I'm still alive but really dead".  

I will always remember Bill and his wonderful family. Bill shared not only Pursel family photographs Bill kindly sent along a BW photograph that included Bill, Yogi Berra and Micky Mantle that Bill had signed. Bill indicated that he had crossed paths with David Niven  and other well known stars. Bill described an interesting story having confronted singer Vic Damone. Bill had seen General George S. Patton up close. Bill described how General Eisenhower had stopped to speak to Bill directly while Bill was oversaw German prisoners load rail cars. 

There is and there will always be a huge vacuum left every morning because Bill's expected e-mail will not be. I will however always treasure  my Bill Pursel memories  especially his wisdom and his friendship that money could not buy.

Thinking of you in this sad moment of the life. Bill was a true gentlemen. Sweet and kind. I will treasure the letters he sent me. Hope you'll meet my dad and Marilyn between the Angels. Rest in Peace.

Thank you for your generosity to the Marilyn community over the years and especially in 2007, when you joined us all in LA and I was lucky enough to meet and chat with you and your lovely wife Mac.  Your kindness will not be forgotten.   I am thinking of your friends and family now.
