A natural leader with a generous personality and a heart to match, William Scott Howard went to be with his Savior on December 24, 2020, having lived a life full of giving & service to others. Scott was born on February 14, 1957 in Grand Junction, Colorado. He moved with his parents William Earl Howard & Wanda Lee Howard to Las Vegas, Nevada at the age of 2. Scott’s big heart for people was cultivated at a young age, volunteering at Billy Graham Crusades & was further refined by graduating from Oral Roberts University with a degree in Business, where he was later acknowledged as 2014 Alumnus of the Year.
Scott’s life was marked by a service for others that was paired with endless generosity. He was a brilliant businessman & leader, stepping in to help with his family’s roofing business & then building up Commercial Roofers to the incredibly successful company it is today. He had a heart for his city, Las Vegas. He was a Chairman of the Las Vegas City Impact Foundation. He used his business mind to serve Oral Roberts University as Chairman of the Finance Committee. Scott was Board Treasurer for Convoy of Hope, so inspired & touched by their work that he committed his time & energy to traveling worldwide impacting countless lives through his service with the organization. Scott was also Deacon & Treasurer at his Church, Trinity Life Center. He dedicated time coaching his daughter’s and son’s basketball teams at Trinity High School. Among countless organizations in which Scott served, he was a treasurer of the Las Vegas Ferrari Club, graduate of Leadership Las Vegas, served with National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and Trustee with the Las Vegas Metro Police Neighborhood Watch.
Scott lived a full life – he loved the adventure of traveling with his family, had a passion for fast cars, loved being active—cycling, basketball, boating, & scuba diving were his favorite activities. Scott’s greatest life accomplishment was his amazing family—marrying his beautiful wife Janet Howard in 1982 & going on to have three beautiful children, Angela Hutchins, Lindsay Howard, William Sean Howard—and “adopted” daughter Kapka Prunty. He was a loving brother to Jeffrey K. Howard & Tammy Howard Fountain. His life revolved around his family and spending time with them, becoming the best Papa to his grandchildren, Cassidy, Dylan, Parker, Christian and Lincoln. Scott was a successful man in every way, but especially in the way his family adored him.
Scott’s diagnosis of cancer did not define him—through it all he was still dedicated to serving others & being there for his family. He was eternally optimistic & hopeful- & his faith in God through his entire journey never wavered. Scott went peacefully into the arms of his Creator surrounded by his family on December 24, 2020—he celebrated the eternal hope of our Savior’s birth in heaven. His legacy lives on through his family, who inherited his big heart & love for serving others. He lived a life full of service to God & people—choosing to love people through action.
