The lives of Elliot Holliday and his dear wife Ethel Abraham Holliday were made a little richer with the birth of the third of five children and only son William. Home was Wilmington, North Carolina where William was educated in the Wilmington Public Schools and graduated from Williston Senior High School in 1959. A love of adventure led William to join the United States Air Force in 1960. William honorably served our country for twenty years as an aircraft mechanic. His Air Force career took William a world away from Wilmington. His duty stations ranged from Texas, Louisiana, Nevada, Korea, and Viet Nam but his destiny was fulfilled during his time spent in Japan where he met Akiko Aoshima who was to become the love of his life, his devoted wife and the mother of his children. William is survived by his three children: daughter Wanda Holliday (Larry Brown), son William, Jr. and son Richard (Melani) Holliday. Joy filled his heart as loving grandfather to six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. William is also survived by two sisters; Mary Carr of Pontiac, Michigan and Cleo Daniel of Washington, D. C. A special brotherly bond created in childhood and lasted a lifetime with his nephew Earl Holliday. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Akiko, his parents and two sisters Ruth Dukes and Frances Robinson. With no more drums to beat and no more fish to catch William passed from this life on Friday, August 21, 2015. Sweet memories of William will always remain with family and friends, those of us who have been touched by this wonderful man.
