Walter Otis Warren

He was born March 5, 1945 in Middletown, New York to Walter and Doris Warren. He was the eldest of

twelve siblings. At the age of 29, he met the love of his life, Frances Lopez, whom he married in New

York in 1974.

Walt spent his early years living with his mother’s parents. He grew particularly close to his grandfather,

and had many fond memories of the times he spent with them. A lifelong patriot, he joined the Air Force

right out of high school, serving for four years as a Weapons System Specialist Mechanic. It was there

that he had the opportunity to grow in himself and become the man he was destined to be. He had a

strong work ethic, working many different jobs until he joined the Army in 1978, where he served for

over sixteen years, retiring in 1994. He served in various positions, including Military Intelligence

Analyst, from Infantry Battalion S2 through Army G2, with assignments in Korea, Berlin, and SWA during

Desert Storm. In 1990, he became “one of the few”, having been promoted to First Sergeant. He was

awarded numerous medals for his outstanding service, including the Bronze Star, five Meritorious

Service Medals, three Army Commendations, six good conduct medals, and many marksmanship

badges. To further serve his brothers, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars for over

twenty-four years, and in 2017 was elected Post Commander of Post 12098 in Buckeye, Arizona.

In 2001, he decided to earn a BS in Accounting, which he completed in 2005. Ever looking for more ways to serve his country, he worked at the U.S. Census in Texas, Arizona, and Nevada. Walt loved working with his hands; always looking forward to his next project, he spent many hours creating beautiful works of art at his home workbench. He also enjoyed researching his own genealogy, having traced his ancestry all the way back 275,000 years. His family was the focal point of his life, and he always worked as hard as possible to provide for them. Nothing made him happier than seeing his children and grandchildren live their lives to the fullest.

Walt is survived by his wife, Frances; his daughters, Kathryn, Suzanne, and Elizabeth; his several

grandchildren, Andy, Nicolas, Elijah, Annabelle, Zoe, and Ayla; and his many brothers and sisters; all

living across America and abroad.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, July 7, 2020 at King David Memorial Chapel.
