Walter Devere Nimmo – 79, joined our heavenly father on December 19, 2012, at St. Rose San Martin Hospital. He was born on January 24, 1933, in Dubois, Pennsylvania, the son of Robert and Bertha Nimmo.
Walter was raised in Cleveland, Ohio and following graduation of high school commenced his 27 year career in the U.S. Armed Forces. In 1951 he enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and after nine years transferred to the Unites States Air Force. He served in two successful combat tours in Vietnam where he earned numerous decorations. He continued his military passion in the South Pacific in leadership NCO positions with the 5th Air Force (Military Airlift Command). Serving in the armed forces was one of his true passions in life. This is where he grew the love of the South Pacific (Korea and Japan), and where he met his wife of nearly 50 years, Oksun Nimmo. They enjoyed a gainful family life stationed on U.S. Air Force bases in Japan, Korea, California, and finally retiring (1976) at Nellis.
Upon retiring, he enjoyed being an entrepreneur owning several businesses, and ultimately resuming another 15 year career in Casino Security. Walter was a beloved and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed life with love, hard work, a positive outlook, and a great sense of humor. He also had a tremendous love for his dogs. Walter is survived by his beloved wife Oksun; his son, Robert Nimmo and his wife, Bonnie, three granddaughters Ashlee, Brittany, and Kylee and grandson Robert Jr.; His son Randy Nimmo and his wife Lisa, two grandsons Ryan and Tyler. A service of remembrance will be held at 2 P.M. on Sunday, December 23rd, 2012, at Palm Mortuary located at 7600 South Eastern Avenue.
